Protective backdrop of peatland and moorland soils
Description
The protective backdrop of the peatland and moorland soils serves to implement the Permanent Grassland Conservation Act (DGLG) and to apply it within the framework of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) of the European Union with regard to the GAEC 2 standard (protection of wetlands and peatlands).
The map of peatland and moorland soils shows areas according to DGLG § 3(1), sentence 1, nos. 6 and 7 as well as according to the GAEC 2 standard of the CAP as an indicative representation. It serves the agricultural administration in the implementation of the regulations and provides farmers with information on the documents used to examine the applications. The following minimum requirements apply to affiliation to the peatland and moorland background: In the ground up to 40cm below the hallway there is a layer at least 10cm thick with at least 15% humus. This percentage corresponds to the soil science criteria for a peaty soil, for peaty soils 30% humus in a thickness of 30cm is required. It should be noted that, according to the definition, the humus-rich layer does not necessarily have to be located on the surface of the terrain. The map was derived from existing information bases and secured by sampling and laboratory analysis. It is not differentiated according to moor and moor and also not according to the thickness of the humous layers.
Contiguous areas >2 ha are shown. Exceptions apply to areas that are related in terms of content, which are separated from each other by topographical elements such as roads and rivers. For them, the sum of the individual areas must be >2 ha. The map is not limited to the agricultural area but shows the bogs and moors over all types of use.
