Assistance; claims for assistance by origin and region
Description
This table provides insight into the number of outstanding claims that municipalities have against (former) recipients of a social assistance or assistance-related benefit, as well as the balance involved.
The data are broken down by the following characteristics:
- cause of action under legislation before and after 2013;
- region (the breakdown by regional areas is based on the municipality that has outstanding the claim and not on the municipality of residence of the person to whom the claim relates);
- as of 01-01-2019, claims for fines for breach of the obligation to provide information without injurious amount have been added to the claims for fines (legislation from 2013 onwards).
With retroactive effect, the temporary bridging scheme for self-employed entrepreneurs (Tozo) will apply from 1 March 2020.
This has led to an increase in the number/balance of assistance claims from March 2020, in particular for loans and undue payments.

The figures in this table are final.
The figures and amounts in the table relate to outstanding claims throughout the reporting month.
Changes as of 30 April 2024:
Figures from October 2022 to September 2023 have become final. Added are the figures from October to December 2023.
When will there be new figures?
New figures will come in July 2024.
