Description
Littering, the careless discarding of waste in the environment, is a worldwide problem. Even in Austria, despite well-functioning waste management and disposal services, waste is carelessly thrown away at neuralgic points such as in public places or along busy roads. At European level, the Single-Use Plastics Directive has taken another step towards reducing waste through littering. Against this background, the Federal Environment Agency has collected the collection volume of littered waste for the year 2018 as well as data on composition and treatment.
