Self-employed persons; personal characteristics and industry (SBI 2008), 2007-2019
Description
This table presents annual figures for self-employed persons as determined on the basis of integral income records. The data is special according to the type of self-employed. This is a subdivision of self-employed persons with (zmp) or without staff (self-employed persons) and family members assisting. These groups are broken down into those whose self-employment income is the main income or the secondary income. For freelancers and zmp’ers, information is also available about whether they work as an independent entrepreneur, dga or ‘other’ self-employed. These figures are further broken down by different personal characteristics and the sector (SBI 2008) in which one is employed as a self-employed person.
The General Business Register (ABR) is used to determine the SBI of self-employed persons. In the period 2007-2011, the ABR had to deal with various trend breaks. This leads to a significant decrease in the number of self-employed persons in financial services (K) in this table in 2010. Therefore, caution is needed when comparing the figures to SBI.
