Hydrogeological Map of Germany 1:1,000,000 (HK1000)
Description
The HK1000 is the result of the transfer of the Standard Legend for Hydrogeological Maps (SLHyM) to the Hydrogeological Overview Map of Germany 1:250,000 (HÜK250). In a first step, the two layers permeability and cavity type were reassigned. The overarching permeability classes of the HÜK250 proved to be a challenge and were evaluated empirically. As expected, the new map has lost some detail, but the result is clearer and easier to interpret. In a further step, a rock legend was created by semantically generalising the lithological information from HÜK250. The original 800+ lithological descriptions were grouped into 13 units. Finally, the polygon areas and contours were adapted to a scale of 1:1,000,000 by geometric generalisation.
