Description
The WMS Service (Web Map Service) called "Water affected by nitrates (RD 47/2022). 2022" allows the visualisation and consultation of the dataset representing Waters affected by nitrate pollution from agricultural activity. This is basic information for the declaration of Vulnerable Areas under Royal Decree 47/2022 of 18 January on the protection of waters against diffuse pollution from nitrates from agricultural sources and Directive 91/676/EEC concerning the protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources (‘the Nitrates Directive’).
The identification of these waters is based on the information contained in the progress report notified to the European Commission on the implementation of the Directive in the four-year period 2016-2019. This information contains, without modification, information on the quality of the waters notified of nitrates and, in particular, those of agricultural origin, as well as the waters that could be affected by such pollution if appropriate measures are not taken.
