Description
The map of forest use capacity of the lands of Andalusia evaluates the forest suitability of the soils of Andalusia following the method of classification of the soils according to their suitability for afforestation in Mediterranean areas proposed by Bonfils (1978).
Influential soil characteristics are quantified to establish the aptitude classes. In this case, a value of 5 to 10 is given to favorable factors, depending on their importance, and a value between 0 and 4, to unfavorable factors. If certain factors are considered as absolute constraints on performance, they are classified as "unfit". The fitness class of a given soil is obtained from the sum total of the values corresponding to the favourable and unfavourable factors it possesses.
