Update of the Lower Austrian LAWP 2016. Detailed evaluations from EDM.
Description
The European Waste Framework Directive provides for the recycling of municipal waste to reach a quota of 55% by 2025. The aim is to achieve a recycling rate of 60% by 2030 and 65% by 2035. This report describes how the treatment routes of municipal waste in Lower Austria are determined on the basis of the annual waste balance reports and presents the calculation of the recycling rate. The calculations show that 62% of Lower Austria's municipal waste is currently recycled. The recycling efficiency of the separately collected waste materials is already very high. The recycling rate could be further increased by further improving separate collection and preparation for reuse.
