Land resource map — AR50 — snaumark
Description
Snaumark is a map layer or characteristic of its own presentation rules (sld-files) in the nationwide data set AR50 that shows the lushness of the vegetation deck in the mountains and on open land in the lowlands. The data set is produced in a scale 1:50 000 and is adapted for use on scales from 1:20 000 to 1: 100 000. This is achieved by generalisation of AR5 below the three-limit and interpretation of satellite images above the three-limit. In addition, N50 has been used where there are no AR5 or satellite images. The vegetation deck’s lushness in the mountains is taken from satellite images. Open land in the lowlands covers a wide range of natural and cultural areas. The property to be used to produce the map layer is called ARVEGET in SOSI format and snowmark in the gml and gdb format.
Legal property values according to the code list are: 55 — Fresh vegetation; 54 — Not registered vegetation; 53 — Low ground; 52 — Smooth and shedding vegetation; 51 — No vegetation covered land: 99 — Not registered vegetation cover. Shapes smaller than 15 acres do not appear on the map, but are merged with adjacent areas. Thus, the data set is not suitable for producing land-use statistics.
The data set is updated once every three years with the last year’s version of FKB-AR5 (area resource map on a scale of 1:5000 in the database as of 31.12).
The latest update has data from 31.12.2021.
Data is downloaded as county or municipal files.
There is no need to download the data set more than once to produce all the map layers in the dataset.
