Prescribed avalanche catchment areas in Austria:
An avalanche (within the meaning of Paragraph 99(2) of the ForstG) means masses of snow which, in the event of a rapid fall on steep slopes, ditches, etc., are caused by the kinetic energy or the
Air pressure wave or by their deposition can cause dangers or damage.
The catchment area of an avalanche (within the meaning of § 99(4) ForstG) is its breeding, demolition and deposition area as well as the avalanche runway.
