Description

The priority route network for winter pedestrian and cycling maintenance in Helsinki comprises routes to be maintained and intensified during the winter of 2016–2017. The material helps in the route planning of winter cycling and illustrates to users the passage of routes maintained by brush caving and the route maintained in an intensified manner. The starting data for digitisation are the base map, up-to-date city plans, real estate map, guide map, street level classification (the traffic planning department of the City Planning Department), outdoor recreation and cycling map (the Sports Department) and the register of public areas YLRE (the Building Department). The data has been created on the basis of the base map and the Helsinki traffic routes (Helsinki centreline map) based on field visits. The data is maintained with the QGIS programme by the Helsinki Urban Environment Division / Buildings and public areas / Maintenance / Operations services. Routes are linear vector objects in the geographic database. The coordinate system of the data is ETRS-GK25 (EPSG: 3879). The material is maintained at least once a year until at least 2019.
