LGRB-BW Relief Parameters: Depth line
Description
A deep line (synonym drain line, valley path) represents the connecting line of the deepest points in an open hollow form (valley) on the Earth’s surface. With assumed water impermeability of the surface of the earth, continuous irrigation on these lines resulted in linear drainage, as is the case with rivers and streams in reality. In geomorphology or relief analysis, drainage lines (depth lines) are the most important rib lines for the outline of the relief in addition to watersheds (or culmination or vertex lines). Depth lines form the local erosion base, to which all transport processes (transport of soil material and water and substances in it) refer to on the slope or in the catchment area.
