Farm biomasses in Järvi-Suomi 2022
Description
The biomass volumes of farms surveyed in the lake-Suomi region and their locations for 2022. In this data mapping, biomass volume and location analyses were carried out from the perspective of agriculture based on agroecological symbiosis (AES), where the production and use of raw materials and energy and nutrient recycling were planned to take place locally and in an overall sustainable manner. In Finland, agricultural biomass, which does not compete with food production, provides a sustainable resource for biogas production. Only these biomasses were taken into consideration in this mapping exercise. Biogas is a key energy source in the AES concept, which increases rural energy independence and independence from fossil raw materials.
As a result of the mapping, a comprehensive theme map concerning the potentials of biomasses was created in the area of Järvi-Suomi. The material for the theme map was based on biomass data provided by the Finnish Food Authority for 2022.
