Description

The flood situation along the Elbe River remains tense. The level in Barby at the recording times of the TerraSAR-X scenes was 6.75 m (12 June) and 5.64 m (18 June). The map shows the change in the water surface of the Elbe and Saale in the Breitenhagen area between 12 and 18 June 2013. The two water masks depicted were taken from a TerraSAR-X scene from June 12, 2013 (recording time: 07:25 CET) and 18 June 2013 (recording date: 07:16 CET). The TerraSAR-X scene from 12 June has a spatial resolution of 8.25 m, the scene from 18 June has a spatial resolution of 3.25 m. RapidEye data (recording time 2009) with a spatial resolution of 5 m serve as a background image. Please note that the flood situation in urban areas, under vegetation cover and in areas with steep gradients may not be fully captured due to radar geometry. This product was created within the framework contract “ZKI-DE” between the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR).
