Description
The Federal Environment Agency operates seven air quality monitoring centres where background pollution, long-distance shipments of air pollutants and trends in air quality are recorded. The report shows the results of the measurements in 2014 and the development of the last 20 years. The legally defined limit values for particulate matter (PM10), NO2, NOx, SO2 and CO were complied with at all measuring points. The target values for ozone to protect human health and vegetation have been exceeded in Illmitz, Pillersdorf and Vorhegg. The information threshold was exceeded in Illmitz. In a long-term comparison, 2014 was very low for all pollutants due to warm winter months and a rather cool summer at the background measuring points, especially for ozone and PM10.
