Lifelong development; employed labour force, working characteristics
Description
This table contains figures on the participation in lifelong development of the employed labour force aged 15 to 75 in the Netherlands. The data can be broken down by different background characteristics such as gender, age, employment status, working time and seniority.
It is not uncommon for people to attend formal and non-formal training at the same time. These persons are included in this table among those undergoing formal training. As a result, the number of persons undergoing non-formal training in this table is somewhat lower than the actual number of persons undergoing non-formal training.
Data available from 2013 to 2023
Status of figures:
The figures in this table are final.
Changes as of 15 May 2024:
The annual figures for 2023 have been added.
Changes as of 1 June 2023:
None, this is a new table.
This table is compiled on the basis of the Labour Force Survey (LFS). Due to changes in the research design and the questionnaire of the EBB, the figures for 2021 are not necessarily comparable with the figures up to 2020. The key figures in this table have therefore been made consistent with the (non-seasonally adjusted) figures in the table Labour participation, key figures seasonally adjusted (see paragraph 4), in which the results for the period 2013-2020 have been recalculated to reflect the results from 2021 onwards. If the results are further detailed by job and personal characteristics, there may nevertheless be differences between 2020 and 2021 as a result of the new method. In this table, we see a break with previous years, especially in the figures on participation in non-formal education.
This is due to the fact that the EEW questionnaire has become personal, whereas respondents were previously asked about the situation for the whole family or household.
Now everyone answers only for themselves and no longer for others. For the non-formal courses it appears that if they are given up by others, they are less well measured.
When will there be new figures?
The new figures are published every year in February.
This table is the successor to the Lifelong Learning table; active labour force, labour characteristics, 2003-2021. See paragraph 3.
