GDI-SBV: Safety analysis 2020 according to ESN (DS)
Description
The data series describes the safety potential of state roads in the construction load of the Free State as well as the federal roads in Saxon administration. The safety potential assesses the road safety of road networks and is calculated according to the procedure of the “Recommendations for the Safety Analysis of Road Networks – ESN” (FGSV, 2003). The aim of the procedure is to identify defects in road guidance, road design and road condition. The assessment is based on the difference in actual and expected accident events in accordance with the Directive. Sections with an accident that exceeds the accepted value have potential to improve road safety – a safety potential (FGSV, 2003). The ESN analysis is carried out over a three-year cycle. In the 2020 safety analysis, a total of 2.018 km of federal roads and 4.307 km of state roads were assessed for the 2017-2019 investigation period. For sections that were inferior to changes during the period under review (e.g. Reclassifications, construction work of more than six months), could not be evaluated. A calculation of the safety potential could also not be done if there was no indication of traffic strength (DTV) for route sections. The safety potential is divided into five SIPO classes (no SIPO, 0-50, 50-110, 110-210, ≥ 210 [EUR 1000/(km a)].
