Subplan Cold air system Grid card
Description
The Cold Air System subplan is one of three subplans (see subplan Heat Reduction and Partial Plan Relief System), which together form the plan for technical planning for heat reduction. The Cold Air System subplan depicts Zurich’s still largely functioning cold air system today. The aim is to preserve and protect the cold air system. In particular, the core areas of the city depend on the influx of cooler air from the slopes of the surrounding elevations. With regard to the importance for the night cooling effect, the specific wind systems must be taken into account in planning.
NOTE: In the context of STRB No 178/2020, the heat reduction technical planning, including sub-plans, supersedes the planning principles and recommendations adopted in the context of the KLAZ 2011 with STRB No 1384/2011.
**Purpose**: The Cold Air System subplan represents all the important structures necessary for the long-term functioning of the air exchange processes and which must be taken into account when planning. Recommendations for climate-optimised planning and construction can be derived. The sub-plan is aimed at both the public authorities and private actors. Reference scale is 1:15 000.
