Description
The Stranderosion, kust viewing service contains information on erosion conditions along the sea shores of southern Sweden. Based on detailed mapping of beaches and the seabed around the coast, erosion conditions and sensitivity have been assessed and calculated using two different methods.
A division has been made into different beach types according to the geology, topography and sediment dynamics of the beaches. The different beach types are characterised by different erosion conditions depending on whether the beaches are mainly characterised by deposits, erosion or are mainly in balance and how quickly erosion occurs.In addition, a forecast is shown for what erosion conditions can be expected in the future at a sea level rise of about 1 m.
The sensitivity of beaches to erosion is shown by an estimated erosion index, based on an analysis of beach and seabed soils, slope, erosion processes and sediment budgets on beaches and seabeds, and wind and wave exposure.
In connection with the field collection, hard erosion protection has been inventoried and sections with active erosion have been mapped.
