Ground map of Lower Saxony 1 : 50 000 - Change of local relocation potential (replacement frequency) 2021-2050 to 1971-2000 climate change scenario (RCP2.6)
Description
The map shows the mean change in site displacement potential for non-sorbable substances (including soil water exchange frequency per year) 2021-2050 compared to 1971-2000 under the ‘climate change’ scenario (RCP2.6).
With the help of the exchange frequency (AH) of the soil water, the local displacement potential for non-absorbable or weakly absorbable substances can be described. The AH indicates how often the soil solution in the effective root zone is replaced in the course of leachate displacement. The lower the water storage and retention capacity of a soil, the greater its exchange frequency of the soil water.
Statements on the concentration and loads of non-sorbable substances cannot be mapped with the method. In the case of nitrate, deposition, denitrification and mineralisation are not taken into account. Depending on the location, they can have a significant influence on the nitrate availability and concentration in leachate.
The climate models are driven by the ‘climate change mitigation’ scenario (RCP2.6). This is a scenario of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), which means significant efforts in climate protection and low emissions.
The results of all climate models are equally likely. Therefore, in addition to the mean, which shows a trend, the upper (maximum) and lower (minimum) edge of the result bandwidth can also be retrieved via the MapTip.
