SE.OF Oceanographic observations — wave direction, mean
Description
Purpose: Observe the direction of ocean waves and improve wave models. Assimilation and validation of models.
Unit: Degrees to 1 decimal.
Characteristics: The wave direction is defined as the direction from which the waves come from. The measurement is made from buoys near the coast and at sea.
The mean wave direction (VDIR) is the average of the wave direction for 30 minutes.
Wave direction at Tp (VPED) is the direction of the waves where the energy is greatest for 30 minutes.
A value per hour is obtained.
Design: Date, time, value, quality and depth of measurement.
Quality codes: Green (G) = Verified and accepted values. Yellow (Y) = Coarsely controlled values, suspicious or aggregated values. Orange (O) = Uncontrolled values
Limits: 0-360 degrees

Delivery: Data is delivered in two different ways
1. Via a user interface where measurement series can be downloaded for one station at a time
Data can be downloaded for the last hour, last day or full time series except the last day(historical reviewed)
2. Via a machine-machine solution (Atom flow rate). Where the same series of measurements as above can be obtained
and also real-time data. These are the last hour’s readings. They can be retrieved for a measuring station
at a time or for all active measuring stations.
