Valuation of the Income and Capital of the Mountains of Andalusia (RECAMAN)
Description
In 2008 work began on the research project "Valuation of Income and Capital of the Mountains of Andalusia (RECAMAN)". The RECAMAN project develops and applies the theory of total economic value (TEV) through a system of agroforestry accounts (CAF), which has been developed and disseminated by the GEA (Environmental Economics Group of the Institute of Policies and Public Goods (IPP), belonging to the CSIC) in national and international scientific publications. The scientific novelty of greatest interest in this research is to offer a pioneering methodology in the world of the environmental and commercial valuation of the total income of the forest on a regional scale with a microeconomic basis, which integrates both valuations in a system of green national accounting of the forests, in which commercial and environmental values are aggregated under homogeneous conditions, in accordance with the economic theory of Hicksian income.
The research requires the participation of a multidisciplinary team formed by researchers specialized in conservation of habitats and wild species, Mediterranean forestry, hunting and livestock productions, valuation of public goods, forestry economics and integrated environmental accounting. This team includes technicians from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development.
This body is in charge of developing the implementation of green accounting of forest systems, integrating their economic, commercial and environmental values, with the aim of offering annual measurements of the Total Income and Total Capital of the Andalusian mountains.
