State-of-the-art technology for the chipboard and fibreboard industry
Description
The report describes the state of the art of plants for the production of chipboard and fibreboard as well as plants in Austria and Luxembourg. The focus is on manufacturing processes, feedstocks and products as well as the plant-specific emissions and emission reduction measures associated with the different production processes. In Austria, 2.2 million m3 of particle board, 0.7 million m3 of medium density fibreboard (MDF) and approximately 70,000 tonnes of fibreboard are produced per year. Production steps and technologies with high environmental impact include chip and fibre drying, pressing, paper impregnation and combustion plants. Emission reduction technologies and thus achievable emission values for dust, organic carbon compounds, formaldehyde, organic acids, phenol, nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide are also presented in the report.
