Suspects; gender, age, origin and foster career 1999-2010
Description
This table contains data on all people arrested by the police as suspects of crimes and who also appear in the Municipal Basic Administration (GBA). Arrested suspects whose personal data are not included in the DPA have not been taken into account in this table.
The table shows the number of suspects of crime per population group in absolute and relative figures. The relative figures indicate how many people per 1000 people of the selected population are suspected of committing a crime. The population groups can be selected according to origin grouping, gender, age and foster career.
The data relates to suspects and not convicted persons. It is estimated that more than 90 % of the suspects are offered a transaction by the Public Prosecution Service (OM) or are found guilty by the court at a later stage. The data on the suspects come from the Police Recognition Service Systems (HKS).
Data are available from 1999.
Status of the figures:
The figures up to 2008 are final. The figures for 2009 and 2010 are provisional. The HKS is updated annually with new and improved data. For example, people who were found to be unjustly suspicious are taken out of the HKS. In addition, registration delays are eliminated. 2009 is expected to change slightly. The number of suspects in 2010 will in reality be higher than the number presented in the table.
