The purpose of this guide is to lay the foundations for the implementation of good user authorisation management. It describes the principles and practices necessary for the design and implementation of access management procedures.
The guidelines are intended for the management of organisations, those responsible for human resources and information management, as well as the owners of information systems and those responsible for their operation.
This guide focuses on the principles of access management, especially for organisations using large information systems. This guide deals with the management of user information within the organisation. There are alternative ways of managing user data across organisational boundaries, but they are still in the development phase and partly unsettled. The different implementation methods are not described in this Guide, but Annex 1 describes one way of implementing cross-organisational authorisations. (7.9.2011)
