Adoptions by length of procedure
Description
The data in the table 'Adoptions via the courts by length of the
proceedings are brought before Dutch courts
adoption requests. There is a distinction between ordinary adoptions.
and step-parent ad options.
The table shows the time lag between the start of the
legal proceedings before the court and the judgment of the judge.
Foreign children who are adopted through court are
that this procedure can only be initiated before the court after a
mandatory care period of (in most cases) one year.
Adoptions covered by the Hague Adoption Convention are not included.
If a child is adopted from a country that is affiliated with this
Convention, adoption is automatically and fully recognised without intervention
from a Dutch court.

All figures shown in the table are final figures.
When will the new figures come?
This table is no longer supplemented.
In the course of 2010, a new method will be adopted.
