Urban monument protection West
In many cities, not only individual buildings are classified as worthy of preservation, but entire ensembles, streets and squares. This historical and architectural heritage forms a basis for integrated urban development, which aims at the formation of sustainable and sustainable urban structures. The federal-state programme Urban Building Conservation supports the municipalities in this task. It was introduced in 1991 and initially used exclusively in the new Länder. From 2009 until the end of the programme in 2021, the programme could also be used in the old Länder.
