Main structure: Old town and village centres
Description
This file contains the old nuclei of South Holland. The present town and village centres are often of medieval origin (1500 to 500 years ago). Inhabitations of several centuries lie here on top of each other. The soil archive in these nuclei thus contains very important information about their genesis. The map shows the size of cities and villages around 1850. After that, a period occurred with large-scale changes in the industrial era.
