Description
The cartography included in this service contains the location of the existing waste landfills in Spain.
A landfill is a facility for the disposal of waste through underground or surface storage, for periods of time longer than those considered for temporary storage.
Royal Decree 1481/2001 of 27 December 2001 regulating the disposal of waste by landfilling classifies landfills into three categories according to the type of waste deposited: landfill for hazardous waste, landfill for non-hazardous waste and landfill for inert waste.
These data have been obtained from three sources:
1.-Register of Waste Producers and Managers (RPGR) based on the obligation of the Autonomous Communities to register these facilities, based on the provisions of Law 22/2011, on Waste and Contaminated Soils.
2.- State Registry of Emissions and Pollutant Sources (PRTR), linked to the Industrial Emissions Directive (DEI) and containing landfills of hazardous and non-hazardous waste with a capacity exceeding 10 tons/day or 25,000 tons.
3.- Likewise, the data have been collected directly from the heads of the Autonomous Communities.
The data collected are updated as of May 2018.
