Pupils with Danish lessons in the vocational schools Schleswig-Holstein
Description
‘Danish is taught in upper secondary education as a regular subject, comparable to other foreign languages, in public general education schools. The curricular basis is based on the Schleswig-Holstein technical requirements for Danish secondary level I and II of the MBWK of 2016. The special aspect of teaching a neighbouring language is anchored in the technical requirements of Danish. Most general education schools with the subject Danish are located in the province of Schleswig, some in Holstein. At community schools, Danish is taught in grades 7-10, at community schools with upper level in grades 7-13 and at high schools in grades 9-13. As a continuing foreign language, Danish is a core subject with a Central Abitur at some schools in upper secondary education. In addition, Danish is used in some schools as a new beginning foreign language in the introductory year of upper secondary education.’
