Description
This table gives figures on the number of graduates at government-funded higher education institutions by type of education, type of diploma, field of study, country of origin and country of birth (parents). This table also includes figures on the number of graduate students at some designated institutions: the theological universities, the University of Humanistic Studies and the Transnational University of Limburg. This table uses the ISCED-F2013 classification. ISCED-F1997 has been used in previous tables by field of study. The two divisions do not fit together. That is why it has been decided to make a new series from the academic year 2015/'16.
This table shows the distribution of students per year between the different fields of study. Due to clustering and splitting of studies from year to year, this table is less suitable for comparing fields of study over the years.

CBS is moving to a new classification of the population by origin. From now on, it is more decisive where someone was born, in addition to where someone's parents were born. The word "migration background" is no longer used. The main classification Western/non-Western is replaced by a classification based on continents and common immigration countries. This classification is gradually introduced in tables and publications with population by origin.
Status of figures:
The figures for the academic year 2015/'16 to 2021/'22 are final and the figures for the academic year 2022/'23 are provisional.
Changes as of 29 March 2024:
The final figures for the academic year 2021/'22 have been added.
When will there be new figures?
In the first quarter of 2025, the provisional figures for the academic year 2023/'24 will be available.
