Prosperity of individuals; key figures, origin
Description
This table contains figures on the distribution of the welfare of persons in the Netherlands, measured on the basis of income. The figures can be broken down by country of birth of the parents, and country of origin of the person.
The target population consists of all persons in private households with income, as of 1 January of the reporting year.
In the target population for the topic of low-income persons, persons from student households and households with only part of the year’s income were excluded.
The target population for the subject of economic independence consists of all persons aged 15 to the AOW age in private households with income, excluding students and pupils, as of 1 January of the reporting year.
CBS has moved to a new classification of the population by origin. From now on, it is more decisive where a person was born, besides where one’s parents were born. The word migration background is no longer used. The main division Western/non-Western has been replaced by a division based on continents and common immigration countries. This classification is gradually introduced in tables and publications with population by origin.

The figures for 2011 to 2020 are final. The figures for 2021 are provisional.
