Vo; examination candidates and graduates, type of education in detail, origin
Description
This table contains data on the exam candidates and graduates (absolutely and as a percentage of the exam candidates) in secondary education (vo) by gender, type of education in detail, country of origin, country of birth (parents) and period.
There are no exam details available for:
- students within the International Baccalaureate, because the exam results are not registered in the Netherlands;
- students within the English Stream, because the exam results are not registered in the Netherlands;
- pupils in preparatory secondary vocational education (VMBO) and practical education (or other special education) as these pupils do not pass the final examination.
CBS is moving to a new classification of the population by origin. From now on, it is more decisive where someone was born, in addition to where someone's parents were born. The word "migration background" is no longer used. The main classification Western/non-Western is replaced by a classification based on continents and common immigration countries. This classification is gradually introduced in tables and publications with population by origin.

Status of figures:
The figures for the school years up to and including 2021/'22 are definitive and those for the school year 2022/'23 are provisional.
Changes as of 29 March 2024:
The final figures for the school year 2021/'22 and the provisional figures for the school year 2022/'23 have been added.
When will there be new figures?
In the second quarter of 2025, the final figures for the 2022/'23 school year and the provisional figures for the 2023/'24 school year will become available.
