Description
The map shows the soil water available for plants for the 30-year period 1991-2020.
The plant-available soil water (Wpfl) describes the amount of water that a soil can provide for plants. It is therefore an important quality criterion for soil fertility. The characteristic value consists of the usable field capacity in the effective root space and the amount of capillary ascent from the groundwater. The Wpfl depends on the texture, the storage density, the humus content, the stratification and the use of the soil as well as the groundwater level.
