Crimes; persecution and trial by region, 2001-2016
Description
This table deals with court criminal cases registered with a prosecutor’s office, on which the Public Prosecutor’s Office (Public Prosecutor’s Office) has made a decision and which have been settled by the court of first instance. The data can be broken down by type of crime and (characteristics of) the municipality where the crime took place. The characteristics consist of the degree of urbanity and the size class of the municipalities.
The cases joined by the judge at the hearing in another case are not counted as a settlement.
Data available from 2001 to 2016.
Status of the figures:
The figures for the last year are preliminary figures. As this table has been discontinued, the data will no longer be finalised.
Changes as of 30 November 2017:
This table is discontinued.
Amendments as of 11 September 2017:
The figures on the decisions of the Public Prosecution Service have been adjusted retroactively from 2008 onwards due to improvements in the interface of the Integrated Process System of Criminal Justice (GPS). This mainly concerns the penalty orders, where an underestimation took place.
The figures on unconditional policy deposits with and without notification are not properly recorded in GPS and are therefore not sufficiently reliable as of 2008. Therefore, these figures are not shown since 2008.
The figures on the settlements by the court of first instance have been adjusted retroactively from 2001 due to an error in the data supply to CBS. As a result, an underestimation of the number of settlements by the court took place. These were mainly super-fast lawsuits that were missing.
The underlying encodings of the classifications used in this table have been adjusted. These are now in line with the standard codes laid down by CBS. The structure and data of the table have not been adjusted accordingly.
The preliminary figures for 2016 have been added.
Due to the loss of funding, new data will no longer be available for this statistics as of 1 January 2018. For more information see the link in paragraph 3.
When will there be new figures?
