Water availability OECD countries
Description
The amount of available water depends on the amount of precipitation that falls, the part that evaporates from it and the amount of water that enters a country via rivers and groundwater. Water availability can be expressed in absolute numbers per country or region. However, it says more to express the water availability per inhabitant. The result is the number of cubic metres available per inhabitant per year. This water is not only used for domestic purposes, but also for agriculture and industry. Internationally, water availability is calculated according to various methods, which may or may not include inflowing groundwater and all inflowing surface water. These are rough indicators that broadly identify potential problem areas.
