Areas in the Netherlands 2023
Description
This table establishes a relationship between the municipal division (the lowest administrative level in the Netherlands) on 1 January 2023 and various subdivisions of the Dutch territory at upper municipal level. With the information from this table, figures from municipalities can be added together, so that figures can also be calculated at the upper municipal level. For the classification by tourist areas, exceptions apply. In the table, click the relevant column heading (“Tourist Areas”) to get detailed information.
The table is composed of:
— Codes and names of municipalities.
— Localisations of municipalities. It is hereby indicated to which areas a municipality belongs.
— Size and urbanity of municipalities.
— Statistical data. This includes the population number and the environmental address density. Based on this data, the size and urbanity of municipalities are based.
For each municipality, the table shows which areas the municipality is part of. On the other hand, the associated municipalities can be searched for in the regions, provinces and COROP areas.
Data available on reference date 1 January 2023.
Status of the figures:
All data is final, except for the number of inhabitants and the municipality size. They have the status for the time being.
Changes as of March 2023:
The explanation on the topics of the item “localisation of municipalities” has been tightened. The change in the explanation has no effect on the data itself. Several missing localisations and figures regarding the number of inhabitants, municipality size, environmental address density and urbanity have also been added.
When will there be new figures?
In autumn, a new table with the most recent area classifications for the coming year will be compiled. Not all area classifications and statistical data are already available, which will be added in the following months. The statistical data will also be added at the end of March. The data shall be definitively established in the summer of the year under review.
