Description
REDIAM is carrying out a review of Habitats of Community Interest (HIC), from the point of view of interpretation, location, delimitation and assessment of conservation status. The interpretation of HICs and their territorial delimitation is a complex task in a wide and biodiverse territory such as Andalusia, where up to 76 different habitats have been detected. Each of them encompasses a peculiar casuistry, where it is not always easy to transfer the definition of the HIC to the territory, configure its relationship with phytosociology or detect them based on photointerpretation, the main tool available. It constitutes the current reference information on the distribution of Habitats of Community Interest in Andalusia. The publication refers to a total of 71 terrestrial habitats of interest, one more than in April 2013, although subclasses have been defined (for the sake of better understanding and management) in 16 of the previous ones, which currently makes 99 layers of spatial information that compose it. In addition, a raster is published with the total area covered by HIC where it is indicated if the habitat is a priority (P), non-priority (NP) or is a habitat that although in the directive is not considered a priority, experts consulted propose it in Andalusia for a change of priority category (EE).
To facilitate the identification of habitats in a specific place, a single layer has been generated that summarizes the 99 layers of information, this layer is not totally faithful to the 99 mentioned since it has been necessary to make adjustments to avoid micropolygons and distances between lines without cartographic sense at the work scale. In addition, the version of habitats 2230_1, 2260_1, 5210, 8310, 92A0_2, 92D0_0, 9340 and 9540 integrated in the single layer is older and outdated compared to the one that appears as independent HIC.
