Description

This table contains quarterly and annual figures on the employment rate of young people in the Netherlands. The population aged 15 to 27 (excluding the institutional population) is divided into the employed, unemployed and non-working population. The active labour force is further classified on the basis of employment status and average working hours. For the different classifications, a breakdown by gender, age, whether or not they are in education and whether or not they have a starting qualification is available. This table is compiled on the basis of the Labour Force Survey (LFS). Due to changes in the research design and the questionnaire of the EBB, the figures for 2021 are not necessarily comparable with the figures up to 2020. The results for the period 2013-2020 in this table have therefore been recalculated to reflect the results from 2021 onwards. In further detailing the results of personal characteristics, there may nevertheless be differences between 2020 and 2021 as a result of the new method. In order to show how young people in the Netherlands are doing, the National Youth Monitor describes more than 70 topics in addition to this topic. The topics are called indicators. Changes as of 6 June 2023: Despite the care with which this table has been compiled, an imperfection has been found afterwards. The figures for the ‘next to school’ characteristic were not correct in 2021. The question about following education was not sufficiently clear for young people aged 15 to 17, so they often answered this question incorrectly with no. This has now been corrected. When will there be new figures? New figures will be published on 12 August 2024.
