(Beta) - Embankment fire hazard aggregated

Description

The data set shows the danger of areas along the rail infrastructure against the ignition and spread of embankment fires. This product of embankment fire hazard (aggregated) is the result of the research project "Sensitivity analysis of vegetation along the federal transport routes with regard to storm throw hazards and embankment fires" of the German Centre for Railway Research at the Federal Railway Office as part of the work of the BMDV network of experts in the field of climate change impacts and adaptation (bmdv-expert network.de). The factual information and hazard classes are provided exclusively for the rail infrastructure sector. The data basis for this is the data set “geo-strecke”, which is provided by Deutsche Bahn (DB) under the license Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) (http://data.deutschebahn.com/dataset/geo-strecke). Hazard assessments for the ignition and spreading of embankment fires in the area of the rail infrastructure at 50 m on both sides of the track are shown. The initial hazard assessment was carried out using a MaxEnt model based on past events as well as data sets on topography, vegetation, meteorology and orbit-specific parameters. The hazard potential is given between 0-1, whereby a higher value only represents a higher susceptibility of an area to ignition and fire spread on the basis of the model parameters. In this data set, the hazard potentials are displayed aggregated on track sections with a length of about 500 m each. For aggregation, the mean value of all pixels within the track section was formed. A higher value of the attribute "MaxEnt" thus describes that raster cells with a high risk assessment are present within this section of the route. Due to the small database of past events, the risk assessments are to be interpreted as an initial assessment. A comprehensive validation and control of the data is sought.
