Area of study INTEMARES Murcia
Description
The information contained in this dataset is the polygon formed by the boundaries of the study area of the A22M subproject.
The INTEMARES A22M sub-project is part of sub-action A2.2 of the INTEMARES project, which aims to improve knowledge for the declaration of new marine spaces that fall under the NR 2000. This subproject, in which IEO staff from the Oceanographic Centres of the Balearic Islands, Cadiz, Malaga, Madrid, Santander and Murcia participate, studies three different areas: an area of pockmarks, an underwater mountain (the Seco de Palos) and an Area of underwater canyons (the Mazarrón escarpment). It takes place between 2017 and 2022 with the following phases: Collection and review of existing data and information; oceanographic campaigns.
The development of this set of geographical information started in 2019.
The metadata of the campaigns carried out in this study area have been linked to this metadata (see section "Source dataset").
These works have been financed thanks to the LIFE IP INTEMARES Project (LIFE-IP INTEMARES - Integrated, Innovative and Participatory Management for N2000 network in the Marine Environment - LIFE15 IPE/ES/000012). This integrated project has the challenge of laying the foundations to effectively manage the marine areas of the Natura 2000 Network and complete the work and progress promoted within the framework of the LIFE + INDEMARES project, which managed to take a great step in terms of declaring new areas.
