Strategic noise maps for important roads managed by DRSI
Description
Strategic noise maps for important roads, managed by the Directorate for Infrastructure (DRSI), are drawn up in accordance with Directive 2002/49/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 June 2002 relating to the assessment and management of environmental noise and the Decree on the assessment and regulation of noise in the environment (UL RS, No 121/04). The database is a spatial representation of the noise pollution of the environment due to traffic on main and regional roads, at a distance of up to 1500 m from the axis of roads.
The noise pollution of the environment is assessed on the basis of calculation methods of noise assessment according to the NMPB-Routes-1996 guideline and standard XPS 31-133 and on the basis of noise measurements according to the standard SIST ISO 1996-2:2007. In order to calculate the noise pollution of the environment, it is necessary to know the characteristics of the operation of noise sources or the extent and distribution of their noise emissions, as well as the meteorological, relief and settlement characteristics of the area in question, including data on existing obstacles to preventing the spread of noise in the environment, such as noise barriers and dykes. The different colours on the noise maps represent different long-term average noise levels for the Ldvn indicators (full day period: Day-evening-night) and Night (period of night), in bands of 5 dB(A). In accordance with the provisions of the legislation, in Phase III of the preparation of strategic maps, sections of important roads with more than 3 million vehicle transports per year were considered, determined on the basis of traffic data from 2016.
The strategic noise maps for important roads under the management of the DRSI are drawn up with the purpose of assessing the exposure of residents to noise in the environment due to traffic on main and regional roads and are the starting point for the preparation of measures to reduce road traffic noise, which shall be defined in more detail in the operational noise protection programme.
