Monitoring spatial developments in the Netherlands, 2006
Description
This table contains the data compiled by CBS for the Monitor Space Note 2006. The Minister of VROM has asked the Spatial Planning Office (RPB) and the Environmental and Nature Planning Bureau (MNP) to monitor actual spatial developments. The planning agencies have now been merged into the Planning Bureau for the Environment (PBL). This is in the light of the goals described in the Space Note.
In total, more than 60 indicators have been developed for this monitor. Scientific criteria, such as the presence of sufficient, reliable and relevant data, have guided the selection and operationalisation of the indicators. CBS has provided censuses by residents and housing for a large number of indicators. In many cases, development is followed within certain, well-defined areas. The Planning Agencies have provided the contours of the various areas to CBS. The results are presented in this table according to the 2006 municipal classification. In addition to 2006 data, the figures for 2000, 2002 and 2004 were also calculated within the 2006 municipal limits. This allows the data to be better compared over time, regardless of municipal border changes, the lifting of municipalities or the formation of new municipalities in the intermediate period.
