Main network utilitarian bicycle connections 2013

Description

Provincial Main Network Bicycle: main utilitarian network and plus routes. The province primarily wants to facilitate utilitarian bicycle traffic between cores. A utilitarian cycling network includes connections that are desirable for functional reasons, connections between A and B, targeted cycling between origin and destination. As stated in the college program, mainly focused on the ‘work’ movement motive, by facilitating heavy commuting connections. The network also includes routes to unlock key secondary education institutions and core shopping areas. A number of recreational destinations such as swimming lakes or the windmills of Kinderdijk are also included in the utilitarian network. Routes for recreational detours, however, are not.
