Carrying capacity

Description

The basic file is manufactured by TNO. The basic stock is actually a clay and peat map of the province of South Holland. This gives an indication of the settlement sensitivity of the soil of South Holland. Poor soil with more than 4 meters of peat in the top 5 meters of the clay and peat package is extremely settlement sensitive. Poor soil with between 0.5 and 4 meters of peat in the top 5 meters of the clay and peat package is very settlement sensitive. Poor soil with less than 0.5 meters of peat in the top 5 meters of the clay and peat package is settlement sensitive. Good soil with less than 5 meters of continuous clay and peat within 8 meters below ground level is less susceptible to settlement. The settlement sensitivity of this unit varies greatly, because within this unit there may still be areas that just do not meet the bad soil criterion. The file ‘setting sensitivity’ has been converted to the file ‘load-bearing capacity’. A column ‘load-bearing capacity’ has been added. This column indicates whether the carrying capacity; ‘good’, ‘bad’ or ‘not optimal’. These maps are part of the soil vision and are indicative maps. When zooming in on a specific area or question, it should always be checked whether further information is available.
