Salinisation

Description

The stocks used were produced by TNO on behalf of the province of Zuid-Holland in the context of an investigation into salinisation in the province (TNO report 'Determination of future salinisation of groundwater in Zuid-Holland, September 2004). One file displays the fluxes (mm/day) to and from the top system. Another stock shows the salt concentration (mg/l) in the year 2000 at a depth of 22 meters. Both stocks have been converted to the ‘torch infiltration’ and ‘salt concentration’ stocks. ‘Salt infiltration’ distinguishes between seepage, infiltration and areas where no flux is present. ‘Salt concentration’ distinguishes between salt concentration lower than 200mg/l and higher than 200mg/l. These stocks are combined to form the stock ‘salt load under the covering layer’. Areas with seepage and where the salt concentration is higher than 200mg/l are marked as ‘yes’ in the last column ‘relevant’ of the stock. These maps are part of the soil vision and are indicative maps. When zooming in on a specific area or question, it should always be checked whether further information is available.
