Flooding - Vulnerability of buildings after dike breach (2019)

Description

This map shows the vulnerability of buildings to the most conceivable flooding as a result of breakthroughs by both the primary and the regional water system. The maximum water depth from the maps 'flood image primary' and 'flood image regional' has been compared with the floor level per building. This floor level is derived from the AHN2 and AHN3 (height around the building). If the maximum water depth is higher than the floor level, there is a risk of influx of water, and therefore damage to the building. The following classification is made on the basis of the height of the water against the facade in the event of a flood: Tussen 0 en 0,2 meter waterdiepte tegen gevel (Voordat het water naar binnen stroomt moet het de drempel over); Tussen 0,2 en 0,5 meter waterdiepte tegen gevel (Stopcontacten zitten vaak op 30 centimeter boven de drempel); Tussen 0,5 en 2,0 meter waterdiepte tegen gevel; Meer dan 2,0 meter waterdiepte tegen gevel. This classification is based on the Delta Programme for Spatial Adaptation. Each class fits a different type of measure to limit damage and casualties, ranging from (temporary) thresholds to evacuation in shelters. The centimetres are intended as an indication, to indicate which buildings can be taken into account relatively more with regard to flooding as a result of a flood.
