Population and population development per month; 1995-2018
Description
Monthly, quarterly and annual figures of the size of the population of the Netherlands.
The table includes numbers of live births, deceased, foreign migration, administrative corrections, persons moved within municipalities and between municipalities, closures and dissolutions of marriage and partnership registration (persons and events) and asylum applications (until 2011 statistical year).
As of January 2010, a new production system will be used to process the messages from the municipal population registers.
In this context, the following changes have been made:
— In the case of live births, no provisional figures will be available by reference number from the mother and marital status of the mother from 2010. However, annual final numbers are added to the table.
— Marriage conclusion is inclusive of partnership registration from 2010.
— The set of partnership registrations will no longer be completed in this table from 2010.
— Marriages include persons who have entered into a partnership since 2010. As a result, an additional previous marital status (married) has been added.
— Marriage dissolution from 2010 onwards includes dissolution of partnership.
— From 2010 onwards, real divorced persons include persons separated from a partnership.
— For persons moving within the Netherlands, as of 2010, no numbers will be available to place in the family.
Data available from January 1995 to October 2018.
Status of the figures:
All figures on asylum applications are final.
Of the population figures, the figures for 1995 to 2017 are final. The figures as of 1 January 2018 are final, the remaining population figures for 2018 are provisional.
The update of asylum applications in this table has been discontinued as of 2012.
