Climate History, 1800-1999
Description
This table contains data on air pressure, precipitation, precipitation days,
days with snow, hours of sunshine and the number of frost, ice and summer
days before the 5 main stations: De Kooy (gem. Den Helder), Eelde,
The Bilt, Vlissingen and Beek(L).
In addition, this table provides climate data from the weather station De Bilt.
The longest running series in this table are those of the winter and
summer average temperature. It starts in 1800.
Annual average temperature series and quantity
sunshine a year begins in 1900.
Of the days with a certain temperature (ice days, summer days)
the series began between 1940 and 1950. Since 1980, there are figures
across the entire set of climate data.
The Netherlands has a temperate maritime climate. This is characterised by cool
summers and soft winters. The average temperature is at the coast
in summer about 16 degrees and in winter about 3 degrees.
The average temperature in the interior in the summer is approximately
17 degrees and in winter about 2 degrees.
