Gift homes

Description

The flood of 1953 led to a disaster of unprecedented magnitude. Thousands of homes and farms were damaged, irreparably destroyed or completely washed away. From the end of 1953, hundreds of prefabricated ‘gift houses’ were built in various villages and towns. The gift homes came from Norway, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Finland and France. In 2020, an inventory was carried out of the currently existing gift homes. We also looked at the status of the houses.
